Unchecked GrowthUnchecked Growth
This one is easy. NO more rezones. Infrastructure, law enforcement, emergency services, roads, and our schools cannot keep up. Enough is enough. NO more residential subdivisions. 98.7% approval rating for developments has to stop. Out of 1800 actions, only 23 were denied. Just say NO. 379 land divisions between 2020 and 2025. Just say NO. Idaho cannot be destroyed by growth. Splits are one thing, developments are another. Until growth can pay for growth, and a compromise is met to that regard, we must hit the brakes HARD.
I have a plan to accomplish this.

Skyrocketing Taxes and BudgetSkyrocketing Taxes and Budget
The Canyon County budget has gone from 96.5 Million in 2019 to 156.5 million in 2025. That's roughly a 70% increase. Who pays that money? You do. Salaries and benefits have grown from 65.8 million in 2019 to 91.8 million in 2024. Personnel costs are 60% of the entire budget. Who pays for that? You do. Just like the budget in your home, we need line by line review of spending and eliminate any pork from the budget. Otherwise you will sooner rather than later be taxed out of your home.
Most commissioners look to increase revenue (your money) and spend it to grow the kingdom. Not Me. Line by line budget assessments are needed.
I have a plan to accomplish this.

Infrastructure and RoadsInfrastructure and Roads
Anyone who travels anywhere in Canyon County can see the congestion. This congestion is complicated by subdivision after subdivision being built, putting strain on roads, bridges, and intersections. Builders and developers are not contributing to solving the issue fairly. Intersections need major attention in order to move the flow of traffic safely and effectively. Coordination with ITD and Highway Districts within CC must happen and more responsibility put on developers to contribute to all the above.
I have a plan to accomplish this.

Ag Land ProtectionsAg Land Protections
This is a complicated one without stepping all over personal property rights. Yes in the past I have focused on what the individual land owners needed in many cases. To retire. Now I see that while that holds strong for private property rights at the same time contributes to loss of AG land. So for the foreseeable future, I see zero need to approve a rezone from AG to residential. Yes that may put a few land owners in a pickle, who need to retire, but we are shooting ourselves in the foot. Let's take a deep breath and and stop rezone for a long while. How about bringing business opportunities instead of homes.
I have a plan to accomplish this.

My fight to protect public lands will end when I am no longer breathing.

Did you know that CC can fine you for owning a chicken coop? Did you know that if code enforcement declares you need a permit for said chicken coop, you really have no avenue for grievance. Either you pay, or they will find you 'guilty' of a code violation, and if you do not pay it, they will move forward with proceedings to lien your home, with fines doubling month over month. Over a chicken coop. All of this started from a neighbor who may not like your coop. How do I know all this? Been there, done that. We pay a lot of taxes in CC. We want to be happy. We want to be left alone. We do not need to pay a fee for a chicken coop, or a shelter for an animal, or to put a new roof on our home, or to put solar on our roof. Code enforcement is the new level of government control. I will keep the county out of your business, unless you need them.
I have a plan to keep government out of your business as much as possible.
